Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Service

Are all Rolex watches water-resistant?

Most Rolex models, particularly those in the Oyster Perpetual collection, are waterproof to a depth of 100 meters. The Perpetual 1908 model, however, is water-resistant to 50 meters. Certain professional diving watches offer waterproofness up to 1,220 or even 3,900 meters. To maintain this level of protection, it is essential to ensure that the crown is fully screwed down. After exposure to seawater or pool water, it is also essential to rinse the watch with fresh water to remove any salt or sand residue.

Is it necessary to wind a Rolex watch regularly?

Manual winding is not required as long as the watch is worn on the wrist. The Perpetual rotor within the movement harnesses energy through the natural motion of the wrist. If the watch remains unworn for several days, the power reserve (which ranges from approximately 55 to 70 hours depending on the model) may run out, causing the watch to stop. In such cases, it is sufficient to unscrew the crown and wind it clockwise approximately 20 times to restore power. Be sure to screw the crown back in securely to maintain the watch’s water resistance.

What should be done if the warranty card is lost? Can a replacement be issued?

Rolex and Tudor warranty cards cannot be reissued if lost.

How often is servicing recommended for a Rolex watch?

Depending on the usage conditions, you can bring your Rolex watch for periodic complete overhaul to an Authorized Retailer or Authorized Service Center every 5 to 7 years. To learn more about the service process and stages, please click here.

What is the standard cost of a Rolex service?

The cost of technical service varies depending on the condition of your watch and the type of maintenance that is required. The condition of your watch will be assessed by a professional watchmaker, and an estimate of the service fee will be provided for your approval before it is carried out. For modern and classic models, the service fee approximately ranges from 700 € to 1450 €. The service fee does not include the cost of any replacement parts. If any parts need to be replaced, the related charges will be informed during the approval process. For further information, please contact an authorized Rolex Retailer or Service Center.

If the watch crystal is damaged, how can pricing information for a replacement be obtained?

In this stage your watch need to have a complete overhaul. When sapphire crystal breaks, tiny fragments, which are not visible to the naked eye, may appear. These fragments can enter the gears, causing mechanism to jam or strain. If the watch is not serviced, it may cause permanent damage.

Can frequent polishing cause damage to the watch?

This depends on the depth of the scratches on the watch. Polishing can remove light scratches, but the deeper the scratches, the less effective polishing becomes. For gold watches, frequent polishing is not recommended because the soft nature of gold can cause deformation. It is recommended that polishing be done once between two complete overhauls.

Does continuously running the chronograph affect the watch’s performance?

The chronograph is designed to measure the duration of a specific event and keeping it continuously running does not directly damage the watch. However, especially in mechanical watches, constant operation of the chronograph can lead to higher energy consumption. This may cause the power reserve to be exhausted more quickly and the watch to lose time. Therefore, it is recommended to use the chronograph only when necessary to ensure optimal performance of your watch.

What conditions may void the warranty of a Rolex watch?

All Rolex watches come with a 5-year international warranty. Except for manufacturing defects, the following situations will invalidate the warranty:

• Impact damage to the watch.
• Opening or repairing the watch by an unauthorized watchmaker or service provider.
• Water exposure when the winding crown is left open.
• The watch being lost or stolen.
• Usage contrary to the guidelines specified in the user manual.

What is the warranty period for Swiss Kubik watch winders?

Swiss Kubik watch winders ensure 3 years of warranty.

Which type of battery is recommended for use in Swiss Kubik watch winders?

For optimal performance and durability, the Swiss Kubik watch winder should be powered by a C-size industrial battery (1.5V alkaline). Rechargeable batteries are not compatible. Industrial batteries typically have a minimum lifespan of 3 years. To ensure uninterrupted functionality, we recommend replacing both batteries with two new, identical batteries. Furthermore, when operating on electrical power, Swiss Kubik watch winders do not deplete the battery life.
